Faisalabad Administration Intensifies Anti-Dengue Drive to Combat Outbreak

FAISALABAD, Nov 25 (APP): The divisional administration has stepped up its anti-dengue efforts to ensure a dengue-free Faisalabad. Divisional Commissioner Raja Jahangir Anwar chaired a high-level meeting to review ongoing anti-dengue measures and strategies.

Deputy Commissioner (DC) Captain (Retired) Nadeem Nasir and other senior officials attended the briefing. Officials reported that 56 dengue cases have been recorded in the district this year, compared to 73 cases during the same period last year.

Enhanced anti-dengue surveillance has been a key focus, with over 30,000 inspections conducted to date—more than double the 15,000 inspections carried out last year. These inspections are concentrated on hotspot areas, including residential, commercial, and outdoor sites.

Divisional Commissioner Raja Jahangir Anwar directed district authorities to further activate anti-dengue teams and immediately destroy any detected larvae using visible and effective measures. While surveillance results in Lyallpur and Iqbal Towns were encouraging, he called for intensified efforts in Jaranwala’s rural areas, where mosquito larvae have been detected.

He instructed the Director Health Services and CEO Health to ensure no lapses in monitoring high-risk union councils, emphasizing the need for stronger indoor and outdoor surveillance.

Highlighting the importance of public participation, the commissioner urged the expansion of community awareness campaigns. He stressed that active cooperation from residents is vital to prevent dengue outbreaks. Field teams have been instructed to remain vigilant, proactive, and thorough, breaking mosquito breeding cycles at all potential hotspots to ensure Faisalabad remains free from dengue this season.
